Specification Sheets

Specification sheets can be created to hold an object's requirements data, and that information can be sent to a supplier. The supplier adds the information about the products he can deliver to meet those object requirements, and that information can be imported back into the original object in IFS/Asset Design. A specification sheet is created for one or more objects of a specific class (e.g., pump, motor, switchgear). If a specification sheet contains several equipment objects, this specification sheet will be connected to each of the objects to create a complete mechanical design documentation including the main equipment and its basic requirements.

Before these specification sheets can be used, a template file is created. A template is tied to a specific equipment object belonging to a specific class. A template file is also tied to a specific standard.

Template files are created within MS Excel and it is necessary that IFS/Component Specification has been installed on the client before a template file is created. Within the template file, header, footer and company logo are defined along with the actual cell that each attribute uses.

During Asset Design, specification sheets secure the original basic requirements and are used later for review and approval purposes. Specification sheets are used when purchasing the equipment and requesting supplier cost and detail design information in the Asset Engineering phase.
