Create Component Specification Template

Explanation

This activity is used to create a template using IFS/Component Specification, a MS Excel add-in. Templates are created for equipment data sheets or MCC Check Records. Refer to About IFS/Component Specification for more information.

MS Excel must be installed on the client before templates may be created.

Procedure

Use one of the following general procedures to create a template from MS Excel:

Equipment Data Sheet Template

  1. Start MS Excel and select IFS > Template >New to open the Create New Template dialog box.
  2. Select standard and class.
  3. Select equipment data sheet.
  4. From the Available to Add window, select/reselect attributes and columns for the template one by one with the single arrow, or all attributes and columns with the double arrow. Tag no (Object ID) is mandatory and pre-selected by the program.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Select File > Save As and save the template in your template directory with a descriptive name and the *.XLT extension. For example, "PumpCentrifugalTemplate.xlt".

MCC Template

  1. Start MS Excel and select IFS > Template >New to open the Create New Template dialog box.
  2. Select standard and class.
  3. Select Create Check Record.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Select File > Save As and save the template in your template directory with a descriptive name and the *.XLT extension. For example, "CheckRecordTemplate.xlt."
