Define Default Cost Elements

Explanation

This activity is used to relate project cost elements to fields for holding a design object's material, work and miscellaneous cost and hours. These settings are defined on a company template. The project cost elements available in the List of Values to be mapped to the Cost Element for Material Cost, Cost Element for Work Cost, Cost Element for Misc Cost and Cost Element for Hours fields are filtered based on the selected company.

Prerequisites

Project cost elements should be defined on the company to be used in the mapping.

System Effects

The fields for holding material, work and miscellaneous cost and hours for a design object will be renamed to the description of the project cost elements selected for the Cost Element for Material Cost, Cost Element for Work Cost, Cost Element for Misc Cost and Cost Element for Hours fields.

Procedure

1. Open the Default Cost Elements window.
2. Click New.
3. In the Company field, enter the company you are working in or click the List of Values to select a suitable company. A value in this field is required and using % will apply the settings for all registered companies. 
4. In the Cost Element for Material Cost field, enter the project cost element you want to associate with material hours/cost or select one from the List of Values.
5. In the Cost Element for Work Cost field, enter the project cost element you want to associate with work hours/cost or select one from the List of Values.
6. In the Cost Element for Misc Cost field, enter the project cost element you want to associate with miscellaneous hours/cost or select one from the List of Values.
7. Similarly in the Cost Element for Hours field, enter the project cost element you want to associate with hours/cost of hours or select one from the List of Values.
8. Click Save.
