Create Shop Order for Design Object

Explanation

This activity is used to create a shop order for a design object that is planned to be prefabricated and assembled. For example a pipe system with several assembly parts or spools, might require the prefabrication of spools individually and to receive the spools to inventory in order to carry out the assembling process. Hence each spool here needs a separate shop order to be created for it.

When creating a shop order for a design object, it is possible to enter mandatory information such as the quantity required to register the shop order. Optionally, it is possible to select the required fabrication type. The resulting shop order will then only consist of the materials that are of the specified fabrication type. In doing so, it is possible to create multiple shop orders on the same design object with different prefabrication and material requirements/types.

The selection of the routing template, another optional selection, will determine the registration of the shop order operations. Based on the project connected to the design object, the Earliest Start Date and Need Date of the shop order will be set to the Early Start and Finish Dates of the connected activity respectively. The created shop order will always be project connected. One or more than one design objects can also be selected for creating shop orders resulting in multiple shop orders, one for each of the selected design objects.

Procedure

  1. Open the Design Object Work Preparation window.
  2. Search for the design object to which you want to create a shop order.
  3. Right-click on the header and click Create Shop Order.
  4. In the Define Information for All Selected Objects group of fields, define values as follows:
    1. In the Schedule Direction field, select the scheduling direction of the shop order from the list.
    2. In the Routing Template Site field, click List to select the site for the routing template on the shop order. The site displayed is the default site for your user.
    3. In the Routing Template ID field, click List to select the routing template for the shop order.
    4. In the Fabrication Type field, click List to select the fabrication type for the shop order. Only those additional parts on the design object with the selected fabrication type will be included as materials for the shop order. The fabrication description is displayed alongside this field, once the fabrication type has been entered.
  5. In the Define Information for All Individual Objects group of fields, values for Object ID, Design Part ID, Site, Part No, Project ID, Sub Project ID, Activity ID and Activity Seq fields are displayed automatically, if and as defined on the design objects from which the creation of the shop order was originated. If required, define or modify values in the following fields as follows:
    1. In the Quantity field, change the default quantity of the particular design object to be manufactured using the shop order.
    2. In the Earliest Start Date field, change the date when the shop order processing should start. By default this is set to the Early Start Date of the activity, if the date is ahead of system date. If not it is set to the system date.
    3. The value in the Need Date field, is calculated automatically. By default this is set to the Early Finish Date of the activity. Modify this value if required.
    4. In the Schedule Direction field, change the scheduling direction for a design object in the shop order, by selecting one from the list.
    5. In the Fabrication Type field, click List to select the fabrication type for the particular design object in the shop order. Only those additional parts on the design object with the selected fabrication type will be included in the shop order. The fabrication description is displayed alongside this field, once the fabrication type has been entered.
    6. In the Routing Template ID field, click List to select the routing template for the particular design object in the shop order.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click the Shop Orders tab and view the created shop order. To view the created shop order in detail, right click on the shop order and click Shop Order.
