Use this activity to create a contract.

Procedure

  1. In either the Sales Contract window or the Sales Contracts window, insert a new record.
  2. You have the option to enter a contract number. If not, this is automatically assigned by the system.
  3. Enter a contract name and contract type. Use the List of Values to select from the valid contract types.
  4. At least one customer or prospect must be entered in the contract header to save the contract. The List of Values on the customer ID displays the valid customers. The Prospect Name is a free text field.
  5. Enter a currency. Use the List of Values to select from the valid currency codes.
  6. The company will use the default global company if one exists, but the value can be changed. However, once the contract is saved, this field can no longer be modified. Use the List of Values to select from the valid companies.
  7. Entering a value in the Site field is optional. Use the List of Values to select from all the allowed sites.
  8. Entering a value in the Contract Reference free text field is optional. It can be entered when creating the contract or at a later date.
  9. Entering a value in the Contract Manager field is optional. It can be entered when creating the contract or at a later date. The List of Values displays all the valid persons.
  10. By specifying a Project ID on the header of the sales contract, you can restrict a contract to a specific project.
    If a project specified as Project Unique Billing is entered in the Project tab of the contract, system will validate that no other projects are connected to the contract and update the Project ID on the Header.
  11. Save the contract.
