Enter Package Types

Explanation

This activity is used to create and maintain package types used for freight. This optional task is to be performed by a system administrator or an equivalent person.

You can enter or change the type of goods (optional), package time interval, price, and recycle percentage of a package. You can enter several date periods with different values, such as package prices or recycle percentages.

System Effects

As a result of this activity:

• Package types are created, including the weight and volume of the package.
• The defined package types can be used in the customer order shipment process when creating package units in a shipment.
• The defined weight of the package is included in the calculation of the total weight of the customer order, the load list or the shipment.
• The defined volume of the package is included in the calculation of the total volume of the customer order and the shipment.

Package Type

Procedure

1. Open the Package Type window.
2. Create a new record or search for an existing one.
3. In the Package Type field, enter up to ten alphanumeric characters for the short code that will be used in the system. Once saved, the package type ID cannot be modified.
4. In the Description field, enter or edit the description.
5. To enter or edit the goods type of the package, enter the type In the Type of Goods field.
6. Enter a tare weight and select an appropriate UoM for weight from the List of Values.
7. Enter a volume and select an appropriate UoM for volume from the List of Values.
8. Create a new row or search for an existing one.
9. In the From Date and To Date fields, enter or edit the first and last dates on which the price and the recycle percent becomes valid.
10. In the Price field, enter or edit the package price.
11. In the Recycle Percent field, enter or edit the recycle percentage.
12. Save the changes. The Changed field is populated.
