Select File Scanning Mode

Explanation

This activity is used to specify whether the first of the Company Template files in the select list should be scanned or not.

By default, the scanning is enabled. The purpose of the scanning is to find template attributes as defined in the first file and to use these attributes as default values for the merged template file.

If several files are selected, there is nothing that guarantees that all the input files have the same template attributes. In this case, the attributes in the first files are as good as any suggestion. If, for example, the system templates with file suffix STD are about to be merged, then all files will have the same attributes, and these attributes will be found by scanning the first file.

Note that the wizard can also handle Company Template related language files. However, these files not structured in the same way as the basic data files. This means that the file scanning mode has no affect for these type of files. But if basic data files are to be merged along with language files then the scanning mode is of interest.

Prerequisites

Template files must be available on a reachable network disk if a scan should be made.
