Manual Handling of Company Template Translations

Explanation

Use this activity to add new translations or to modify existing translations of Company Template related attributes.

When a Company Template is created, then all available translations in the source company are defined for the new template.

The translation database is a part of the IFS/Enterprise component. On-line modification or addition of translations can be done in  the Template Attribute Translations window.

Note the following:

• When a company template is installed, the system ensures that the so-called "PROG" entries are defined in the company template translation database. The same applies when new basic data is added via the Company Template detail form. The "PROG" entry relates to the so-called "PROG" language that actually defines an attribute key and a related translation. This entry is not visible in the client, only actual translations are visible.
• All pre-installed translations are marked as System Defined. For these translations, the current text equals the installation text.
• It is not possible to manually add new attribute keys.
• It is always possible to see valid attribute keys by using the List of Values.
• If the current translation is modified manually to be something other than the installation text, then this translation will be marked as non-System Defined.
• If a new translation is added, it will be marked as non-System Defined and the installation text will be empty.
• If a translatable text is modified in the Company Template Detail window, then only the PROG translation will be modified.
• If the basic data is removed using the Company Template Detail window, then all the related entries in the translation database will also be removed. Translations related to a system template can only be removed by the template owner or by a company template super user.

Prerequisites

A company template must be available, either created during a fresh installation or upgrade, or created from a source company.

System Effects

The main benefit of the template translations is that translatable texts related to basic data in a company can be described in several languages in the same database. The manual window makes it possible to add, remove, or modify translations of a template.

Procedure

1. Open the Template Attribute Translations window. 
2. Select the module and, if necessary, the Logical Unit[s] in the Template ID list.
3. Modify the current translations or add new ones for the existing attributes.
4. Save your changes.

Alternatively, use the following option:

1. From the Company Templates window, right-click, then click Translations. This option will launch the translation window with correct module, Logical Unit and attributes displayed.
2. Modify the current translations or add new ones for the existing attribute keys.
3. Save your changes.
