Detached Spare Part List

A detached spare part list is a general name for a group or kit of spare parts. The spare part kit can contain all spare parts for an object or type of object, and/or spare parts and other items most often required for repair jobs. The detached spare part list can be an actual kit, or it can be used as a fictitious part, allowing you to organize parts into groups to simplify the administration related to enter spare part information on object, PM actions and work orders. For example, you can create one spare part list to be used for maintaining an object, one spare part list to repair the object and/or another spare part list to be used when upgrading the object.

Instead of connecting spare parts one by one to an object or on a work order you can select the whole kit. When preparing work orders and PM actions you can select the whole spare part kit as a material line, or you can select just the parts within the detached spare part lists that are needed to perform the the task, if the whole kit is not needed.

In order to create a detached spare part list, first you need to create a detached part header. The header must be defined as a regular inventory part (in IFS/Inventory). Thereafter you can connect inventory parts and/or purchased parts to the detached part header. You can also connect other spare part lists to the list, building a multi level spare part list. To create a new detached spare part list you can also copy spare parts from an existing detached spare part list.
