Reschedule Work Order Structure
Explanation
This activity is used to reschedule a work order structure by using
IFS/Constraint Based Scheduling (IFS/CBS).
Prerequisites
To perform this activity, the work order structure must already be known to
the scheduling server. If the work order site is enabled for use with IFS/CBS,
this has happened when the work order structure was set to the Prepared
status.
System Effects
The work order structure will be rescheduled according to any changed
settings on the work order structure, its work orders and/or its operations. For
instance, the required start date may have been changed, dependencies between
work orders added or removed, or tools added or removed.
As a result of the rescheduling run, the following updates will take place:
- All the work order operations will be updated with new planned start and
end dates.
- Allocations for the work order operations will be updated, based on the
constraints on the operations.
- Planned start and end dates will be updated on the tools and facilities
lines for the operations.
- The material requisition lines required for an operation will be updated
with the planned start date of the operation.
- The planned start date on the work orders will be updated with the
planned start date of the first operation on the work order.
- The planned completion date on the work order will be updated with with
the planned end date of the last operation on the work order.
- In case the work order is a node in the structure, the structure start
date will be updated with the start date of the first work order in the
structure below this node.
- Similarly, the structure completion date will be updated with the
completion date of the last work order in the structure below this node.

Procedure
- Open the Work Order Execution Logic window and query (F3)
for the necessary work order structure.
- If there are any changes to be made to the work order structure, like
changing dependencies or adding operations, do this first.
- Right-click on the header of the window and then click Reschedule
Work Order Structure/Project. The Reschedule Work Order
Structure/Project dialog box opens.
- Select the relevant check boxes:
- Select Allow Reassignment if you want the scheduling server
to allow work order operations to change resources already allocated to
it.
- Select As Late As Possible if you want the scheduling server
to place the work orders as close as possible to their required date,
i.e., the date in the Latest Completion field of the work order
or work order structure.
- Select Include Released Orders if you want the scheduling
server to reschedule work orders that has been released but not yet
started.
- Select Compress Downstream from Bottleneck if you want the
scheduling server to try to keep work order operations of any given work
order as close as possible to the bottleneck resource.
- Select Refresh Materials if you want the system to update the
scheduling server with the current material availability profile for the
site. This is done for parts that has been defined as finite parts.
- Click OK. The rescheduling request is now sent to the scheduling
server.
