Define Discrepancy Code

Explanation

Use this activity to define a discrepancy code. Discrepancy codes are used to describe problems, deficiencies, or discrepancies identified during a disposition inspection.

Prerequisites

• Discrepancy codes can be entered at any time. However, it is intended that discrepancy codes will be entered after the structures the discrepancy codes address have been transferred from VIM.

System Effects

• Discrepancy codes are created and available to associate with parts later in the MRO process. 
• When MRO interim order structures are created, the discrepancy code will be used to determine which routing operations and manufacturing structures records to select.

Procedure

1. Open the Repair Setup Basic Data window.
2. Select the Discrepancy Code tab or the Discrepancy Code Part tab.
3. Create a new record (F5).
4. Specify a discrepancy code, a repair description and any note text.
5. Save changes.

Optionally you can connect a document text to the discrepancy code:

1. Select the appropriate record, right-click and then click Document Text.
2. The Document Texts for Discrepancy Code dialog box opens.
3. Create a new record.
4. Specify an output type and any note.
5. Save changes (F12) and close the dialog box.
