Define Labor Class
Explanation
Use this activity to define a labor class. A labor class is used to divide employees into different groups
in order to identify types of workers in operations and
routings. Labor classes are not used for capacity calculations; they are used
only for cost monitoring.
Prerequisites
This activity has no prerequisites.
System Effects
As a result of this activity:
- You create a new labor
class.
- When you create a new labor class, cost sets 1, 2, 3, and 4 are automatically
created for it.
- The labor class ID will be available in the List of
Values to connect to routing operations.

Procedure
- Open the Manufacturing Labor Class window.
- Click New.
- In the Labor Class field, using no more than 10 alphanumeric characters, enter the name of the labor class you want to
create.
- Enter a description of the labor class in the Description field.
- In the Site field, select the site to which you want to connect the labor class.
Click List
of Values to select the site.
- Specify a calendar ID for the labor class. Click List of Values to select from available
calendars. The site calendar appears as the default.
- In the Sched Capacity field, specify whether the type of schedule capacity
used is finite or infinite.
- If desired, select a cost center ID from the List of Values
- Save the new labor class record (F12).
