Scrap from Stock
Explanation
Scrapping is normally done when a part has become obsolete or faulty or its expiration
date has been reached or exceeded. As well as scrapping individual parts, you can scrap
pallets or parts on pallets. To scrap an entire pallet, specify the parts that are on the
pallet. To scrap individual parts, indicate the desired quantity. For parts with
availability check, the system will also check if the scrapping will affect existing
orders.
Prerequisites
- The part cannot be locked for counting.
- A standard cost must have been specified for the part (unless there is an override cost
in the inventory part register).
- The part cannot be a blow-through or a phantom part (planning method T, O, or K).
- The current location cannot be an inspection location.
- The inventory location type must be picking, pallet, pallet deep, pallet
buffer, floor stock, or production line.
- The scrapping cause must have been entered in Scrapping Causes.
- The parts cannot be reserved.
- The ownership type of the parts cannot be Supplier Loaned.
System Effects
- An inventory part is scrapped from stock and the number
in the Total Quantity Available column decreases.
- If the Print Serviceability Tag check box is selected, the
serviceability tag is printed for the scrapped part. The serviceability tag
is ordered in the Scrapped serviceability status.
Serviceability tag refers to the tag used in the Aviation industry to
clearly identify an uninstalled component or assembly and its current
status.

Procedure
- In the upper part of the window, either populate or query for the part number in
question. Depending on whether the part is a single part or a pallet-handled part, choose
the corresponding tab in the lower part of the window.
- In the lower part of the window, you can see one or several locations where your parts
are located. Select the line for the inventory location from which you want to scrap the
part.
- Right-click and then click Scrap.
- In the Scrap Inputs dialog box
that appears, specify the amount of parts to
scrap. You must also define a scrapping cause either by entering the appropriate short
code or by using the List of Values. If desired, you can type a comment.
- If the part is catch unit enabled, enter the catch
quantity which you want to scrap.
- Select the Print Serviceability Tag check
box to order and print the serviceability tag report for the scrapped part. Note: If
the value of the PRNT_SERVICE_TAG_ACS object property in System Definition/Object
Property is set to TRUE, this check box will be selected by
default. The value of this check box can be changed, if needed.
- Click OK when
completed.
- If
the part is serial tracked at receipt and issue, but not serial tracked in inventory, a dialog box
appears where the serial number(s) to
be scrapped should be identified. Click OK when completed.
