Update Estimated Material Cost

Explanation

Use this activity when you want to update the material cost for a group of inventory parts. The update is based either on estimated material cost, latest purchase price, or average purchase price. You can update all the selected parts with the same percentage value. The update is based on the criteria you specify in the Update Estimated Material Cost dialog box.

If you are going to update the estimated material cost based on either latest or average purchase price, you should update these values before you use this activity. The update of latest and average purchase prices is performed in the Calculate Purchase Costs dialog box.

Prerequisites

No prerequisites exist.

System Effects

The estimated material cost for the selected inventory parts is updated. The calculations are performed as a background job.

If the calculation is based on latest or average purchase price and this value is zero (0), the estimated material cost is not updated.

Procedure

1. Open the Update Estimated Material Cost dialog box.
2. Enter the site code, either manually or by using the List of Values.
3. Optionally, enter a part cost group and/or a commodity group 2, either manually or by using the List of Values.
4. Specify the lead time code. Choose Purchased or Manufactured in the List box.
5. Optionally, enter a product code and/or a product family, either manually or by using the List of Values.
6. Specify on which cost type the update should be based by choosing from the List box.
7. Enter the desired percentage with which the estimated material cost should be updated.
8. Press OK.
