Create Tools
Explanation
Use this activity to define a new tool ID and its instances.
Prerequisites
This activity has the following prerequisites:
- A site to which you can connect the tool ID must exist.
- If
you want to associate the tool ID with a calendar other than the site calendar, that
calendar must be defined before you create the tool ID.
- The manufacturing
tool type for the tool ID must exist.
System Effects
The system creates a new tool ID and a tool instance having the same name as the tool
ID.

Procedure
- In the Manufacturing Tool window, select New.
- Enter the tool ID name in the Tool ID field. The name may consist of up to
forty
alphanumeric characters.
- Enter a description for the tool ID in the Tool Description field.
- Specify the site at which the tool ID is to be used in the Site field. Use
the List of
Values to select from available sites.
- In the Tool Type field, connect the tool ID to a tool type. Use the List of Values to
select from available tool types.
- If you do not want to use the site calendar that appears by default, specify a calendar
for the tool ID in the Calendar field. Use the List of Values to select from available
calendars.
- In the Sched Capacity field, specify whether the type of schedule capacity
used by the tool ID is finite or infinite.
- If desired, enter values in one or more of the following fields: Last Used,
Alternate
Tool ID, Alternate Tool Description, Calibration Control, and
Time Between Calibration.
- If desired, enter additional tool instances in the
Tool Detail
tab. Each tool instance must have a unique name and a description. The Start and
End Date Availability range must also be specified for each tool instance. The other
fields in this tab are optional.
