Perform Kanban Calculations

Explanation

Use this activity to calculate the correct No of Kanbans for a circuit. The system calculates this number according to the demands and calculation preferences that you specified. The calculation considers the Calculation Type and Formula Type as well as the values for Demand Qty, Leadtime, and Lot/Transfer Qty. Depending on the calculation type, the system updates either the new No of Kanbans or the new Qty per Kanban.

Prerequisites

This activity requires that demand quantities be properly entered on the circuit by either retrieving demands or manually setting a value.

System Effects

As a result of this activity the new Kanban quantities are updated to reflect the results of the calculation. If the calculated results differ from the current settings for an Active circuit, the status of the circuit changes to Recalculated. The value in the Recalc field in the Recalculation tab of the Kanban Circuit window changes to the system date. Otherwise, the status remains Active. Calculations also are possible if the status of the circuit is Inactive, On Hold, or Recalculated.

Procedure

In the Kanban Circuit window, right-click and then click Calculate Kanbans. Alternatively, in the Calculate Kanbans window, enter the specific information about the circuits on which you want to run calculations, then click OK.
Right-click and then click Retrieve Demand or Run Simulation if you want to perform these activities.
