Resolve Shortages

Explanation

Use this activity to distribute newly arrived parts between the different orders that have shortages for these parts or manually clear unnecessary inventory part shortage records. A shortage occurs when the quantity on hand is not enough to meet the quantity required for a reservation. When an arrival entry is made for a part in short supply, the system generates a message stating that there is a need for that part.

Prerequisites

This activity requires that there be a shortage on the order. The system parameter Shortage Handling must be set to Yes. The Shortage Notification check box must be selected.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the system distributes newly arrived parts to different orders that have shortages or manually clears unnecessary inventory part shortage records. After the shortage has been managed, the order continues in the order flow
