MS Set Comparison

Explanation

This activity is used to compare two Master Schedule sets for a Level 1 part during the periods included in a selected period template and associated calendar.   

Prerequisites

This activity requires the existence of a Level 1 part with forecast and supply data for more than one Master Schedule set.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the system compares the two selected MS sets for the Level 1 part for the periods within the selected period template. The results of this comparison appear in a table that includes the forecasts for the selected Level 1 part and its two user-selected MS sets. In addition, the table contains columns that show the cumulative forecasts and supply, along with the forecast and supply variance. This data helps you to analyze the difference between forecasts and supply.

Procedure

  1. Either query for a specific part or populate the window and select the part in the Part No list. Alternatively, enter a part number or use List Of Values.
  2. Change or accept the default values in the Site, From MS Set, and Period Template ID fields.
  3. Enter a number or use the List of Values to enter a value in the To MS Set field.
  4. Right-click and then click Compare MS Sets. The system compares the two selected MS sets and displays the results in the table area of the window.
  5. If an error message tells you that the period template recalculation date does not match with the Level 1 part's last run date, right-click and then click Recalculate Period Template, enter the recalculation parameters and click OK. Then perform step 4 again.
