Prepare to decomply a performed modification

Explanation

This activity is used to create a pending task for the de-compliance of a modification.

When a modification is complied with, all defined actions are performed as specified. However, occasions can arise where previously performed actions need to be reversed (in other words, you need to de-comply a modification). This can be performed using the Create Decomply Task option. With this option, a new modification task containing the modification execution type de-comply, is used to reverse the action of the modification that was previously performed.

When a modification of execution type Terminating Action leading to a part identity change is complied with, the serials assigned to and/or affected by the modification is automatically renamed to the new part number and revision. The Create Decomply Task option can be used to create a pending task for the modification to reverse the performed serial rename. Once the de-complied modification task is finished, the renamed serial will be reversed back to its origin defined on the modification. This means that the renamed serial will be changed automatically and will include the old part number used before the serial was renamed. If history records were updated with the new part number of the renamed serial, these records will be updated once more to include the old part number of the serial.

Note: Modification tasks cannot be included in an MRO work scope if the tasks lead to a change in a serial's part identity.

Procedure

General - If post maintenance checks (PMCs) exist after the modification has been complied with, you can choose to remove these PMCs immediately, or after the de-comply task for this modification is completed.

Select from the following options to create a pending task for the de-compliance of a modification. A de-comply task can be created from any of the windows listed under Window.

Procedure 01:

  1. Open the Serial Modification History List window.
  2. Query (F3) for the serial and modification task you want to de-comply.
  3. Select the relevant row, right-click and then click Create Decomply Task.
  4. A message appears requesting confirmation of the task. Click OK to create a new pending task.

Procedure 02:

(Ideally, this procedure would be performed for modifications that relate to a complex MRO flow.)

  1. Open the Task Summary window. Note that this procedure can also be performed using the Change Work Scope Tasks window.
  2. In the Work Order field, query (F3) for the work order to which the serial and modification you choose to de-comply belongs.
  3. Click the Modification tab.
  4. Select the All PCW option. For example, if the required modification is included in a baseline, select this option from the Baseline Modifications area. As a result, the table in the window is populated with the modifications that are currently complied with.
  5. Select the row containing the required task, right-click, and then click Create Decomply Task.
  6. A message appears requesting confirmation of the task. Click OK to create a new pending task.
