Assign Resource to Activity

Explanation

Perform this activity to add resource(s) to an activity. The main purpose of this is to control who will work on a certain activity and how much work is to be done, with more detail. The values given here will be used for performing an approximate capacity planning across one or more projects.

You can assign several resources to one activity. It is important that the resources you connect have cost and capacity defined for the right period according to your project. The resource cost and capacity to use is defined by the activity's early start and finish dates. The cost and hours for the resources will be reported to the project according to the project cost elements you have defined for the resource.

Prerequisites

• Resource groups with capacity and cost must have been defined.

System Effects

• The activity will be included in the rough capacity planning.

Procedure

1. Open the Project Navigator window and select the appropriate activity from the graphical structure navigator.
2. Go to the Resource tab and click on the Resource Planning tab.
3. Create a new record.  
4. Select a Resource ID from the List of Values.
5. If you are interfacing with Primavera Project Planner, you can select the desired duration type (Fixed or Resource) in the Duration Type column.
6. Enter a value in the Planned Hours column.
7. Enter a text in the Note field if needed.
8. Save the record.
