Connect Employees to Resource Group
Explanation
Perform this activity to connect an employee allocation to an activity
resource assignment. The
employee must have been connected to a project activity since a resource can
only be assigned on the activity level. In other words, only employees which
have been allocated on the activity level can be connected to a resource group.
When an employee has been
allocated to an activity, which in turn has been assigned with a resource group, the employee
will be automatically identified as a fulfilled requirement of the resource
group.
Prerequisites
- A resource group must exist with the same company as the project.
- An employee must be allocated to the activity.
System Effects
Resource requirement is satisfied.
Allocated Hours and Unallocated Hours on the resource will reflect the number of
hours satisfied by the allocated employees.

Procedure
- Open the
Activitywindow and then query for the desired activity,
or open the
Project Navigator window query for the required project
and select an activity in the project navigator.
- Select the
Resource tab window and
then click the Employee Allocation tab.
- Create a new record and select the resource to connect in the
Resource Group field or select
the resource to connect in the Resource
Group field for one of the existing records. Use the List of
Values to get the list of existing resource assignments for the activity.
- Save the changes.

Select the
Resource Planning tab. Note that by connecting an
employee allocation to a resource group assignment, the
Allocated
and Unallocated
fields are updated for the resource assignment.
