Grouping resources in a resource structure
Resources can be grouped in any number of levels in a resource structure. In the picture to the right a three-level resource structure has been created.
The simulation load can be evaluated for any level, or resource, in the resource structure. However the part routings can only be defined using resources from the bottom level of the resource structure. In this example only the resources A1, A21, A22, B1, B2 and C can be used when defining part routings.
The resource capacity for a parent resource is by default the aggregation of the capacity for the child resources. The capacity for resource B is the aggregation of the capacity for resource B1 and B2. This also means that a parent resource normally does not have a capacity definition of its own.
Override
the default capacity aggregation
It is possible to override the default aggregation of capacity for parent resources. If the Override Children checkbox has been selected for a parent resource, then it is possible to define the capacity manually for the parent resource, regardless of the capacity definition for the affected child resources. This means that the affected child resources will be "grayed out" in the resource structure, and it will not longer be possible to evaluate the load for the affected child resources. In the example to the right it will not longer be possible to evaluate the load for resource B1 and B2. However the part routings can still only be defined by using the resources B1 and B2, not resource B.
