Enter Freight Information in Part Catalog
Explanation
This activity is used to enter the information about packing for shipping purposes
for the part catalog entry. The information is used
calculate the weight and the volume of customer orders, load lists, shipments and
also freight charges.
Prerequisites
This activity has the following prerequisites:
- A part catalog entry must exist.
- The applicable package type must have been
previously entered in
Package Type.
- The applicable pallet type must have been previously entered in
Inventory
Basic Data/Pallet Types.
System Effects
As a result of this activity:
- Package material, weight, and volume information
is entered for the part catalog entry and this data will be applicable to
the sales part entry. However if a sales part entry Use Site Specific
check box selected then this information will not be applicable.
- Volume and weight information entered on the sales
part record will be transferred to customer orders for the part, to be used
for transport booking purposes.

Procedure
- Open the Part window and
query for the required part catalog record.
- Click on the Sales Part Data/Freight
Information tab and click New.
- If the part is to be loaded in package units,
enter the required information in the Package group box. Enter the
short code of the package type to be used, in the Type field. You can
either enter a value, or click List to select one from the List of
Values.
- Enter the total number of parts to be included in
each package in the Proposed Pkg Qty field.
- If the part is to be loaded directly in pallets without packaging, enter the
required information in the Pallet group box. Enter the short code of
the pallet type to be used, in the Type field. You can either enter a
value, or click List to select one from the List of Values.
- Enter the total number of parts to be included in
each pallet in the Proposed Pallet Qty field.
- In the Weight and Volume group box, the net
weight and the volume of the chosen package or pallet, in the unit of measure used in the company, will be
displayed.
