Enter Customer Order Route
Explanation
Use this activity to create a customer order route. This optional task is to be performed by a system administrator or equivalent person.
Route planning is a method to coordinate the delivery of goods to customers who
order frequently. This functionality would only be used for
customers who order parts regularly and frequently, but in quantities smaller
than full truck loads. It would only be useful if you have more than one customer
with similar delivery requirements who are located close enough together to be
serviced by the same delivery route.
It is also part
of IFS transport planning, which includes load lists and consignments. Route
planning allows you to plan deliveries based upon routes, and to determine the
last point in time that an order can be taken and still be included in a
specific delivery route. You can also link forwarding agents to the customer order
delivery routes if you use them for transport purposes.
Prerequisites
This activity has the following prerequisites:
- If you will be using a forwarding agent, basic information must be entered
in the Forwarder window in IFS Enterprise.
- Although you do not connect customers to a route until after the route is
established, you should have information regarding the customers and their
delivery needs before you specify the days in the delivery route.
System Effects
As a result of this activity:
- A customer order route will be created, specifying route days,
frequency, and order deadline lead time.
- The customer order route can be connected as a default route for the
customer in the
Customer window. This route will appear as the
default on customer orders for that customer.
- The customer order route can be linked to individual customer orders.
- If a forwarding agent has been linked to the delivery route, this value
will default whenever the route is selected. This default value can be
deleted or changed.
- The order deadlines are used by the system in calculating the customer
order delivery dates and times.
