Enter Freight Information
Explanation
This activity is used to enter site specific information about weight, volume, and packing.
If values are not entered here the values entered in the part catalog will be taken as the default values.
The
information is intended for transport booking and
freight calculation purposes. You cannot enter freight
information for non-inventory sales parts relating to services.
Prerequisites
This activity has the following prerequisites:
- A sales part, a non-inventory sales part of category goods,
or a sales package part record must have been entered and saved.
- The applicable package type must have been previously entered in the
Package Type
window.
- The applicable pallet type must have been entered in the
Basic Data for Inventory/Pallet Types
tab.
System Effects
As a result of this activity:
- Package material, weight, and volume information is entered for the sales
part.
- Volume and weight information entered on the sales part record will be transferred to
customer orders for the part, to be used for transport booking and
freight calculation purposes.
- The freight information entered here will be used
instead of the information entered in the Part/Sales Part
Data/Freight Information tab.

Procedure
- Open the appropriate window, and either populate or query for the desired sales part.
- Click the
Freight Information tab. The
information entered in the part catalog will be displayed.
- Select the Use Site Specific Freight
Information check box if the freight information entered here will be
used instead of the information entered in the part catalog.
- If the non-inventory sales part is to be loaded in
package units, enter the required information in the Package group box. Enter the short code of the package type to be used, in the Type
field. You can either enter a value, or click List to select
one from the List
of Values.
- Enter the total number of parts to be included in each package in the
Proposed Pkg Qty field.
- If the non-inventory sales part is to be loaded in
pallets, enter the required information in the Pallet group box.

You can either enter a value, or click List to select one from the List
of Values.
- Enter the total number of parts to be included in each pallet in the
Proposed Pallet Qty field.
