Add Packages
Explanation
This activity is used
to create a package structure consisting
of handling units and package units. A handling unit is a device that can be
handled physically and may carry one or more packages.
There are three types of handling units:
- Homogenous Handling Unit, where all the packages contain the same item.
- Mixed Handling Unit, where all the packages contain varying items.
- Simplified Handling Unit, a package unit
that is also considered as a handling unit.
The handling unit must be created before you can add package units to the structure.
Prerequisites
- At least one package type must have been defined in
basic data.
- A handling unit must have been created.
System Effects
- Packages will be entered on the handling unit.
- A package
structure with handling units connected to package units will be created.
Note: This information is used for the dispatch
advice message, to advise the customer about the specific handling unit
IDs and package unit IDs that will be shipped to the customer.

Add Package Units
Procedure
- Query for a specific shipment ID.
- Click the
Package Structure tab to
view the package structure details.
- Expand the shipment ID by selecting it.
- Right-click on the handling unit and and then click Add
Package Unit(s).
- Click New, to activate a new row.
- Enter a package type or select a value from the List of
Values. The name of the package type appears automatically.
- Enter the number of units for the package type.
- Click OK to save the row.
