Create SSCC for Handling Units

Explanation

This activity is used to create a Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC) for a handling unit of a shipment. The created SSCC will be displayed on the package structure after the unit ID.

The SSCC is printed on either the package label or the handling label and the shipment delivery note. Also it is possible to send the SSCC using the EDI message service.            

Prerequisites

• At least one package type needs to be defined.
• A handling unit must have been created.
• When creating SSCC automatically for a handling unit or the entire shipment, the company prefixes should be pre-defined.

As a result of this activity, a SSCC for a handling unit is created.

Procedure

1. Open the Shipment window and search for the required shipment ID in the Shipment ID field or create a new shipment.
2. Then click the Package Structure tab and select the required handling unit to create the SSCC or create a new handling unit.
3. Then right-click on the required handling unit in the tree structure on the left pane of the Package Structure tab, and then click Create SSCC.    
4. Then the Create SSCC dialog box appears.
5. If you need to create the SSCC automatically, select the Create Automatically check box and click OK.
6. If you need to create the SSCC manually, clear the Create Automatically check box and enter the code manually.
7. If you need to create the SSCC for the shipment, right-click on the shipment, the top level of the tree structure and then click Create SSCC.
8. When the Create SSCC dialog box appears, click OK. When you are creating the SSCCs for a shipment, by default you can only create the SSCC automatically.
