Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create a
technical class that can be used for all front wheels types. By connecting
attributes to a class, a characteristics template is created (which is explained
further in the next exercise).
Windows:
Technical Classes and Attributes
- Open the Technical Classes and Attributes window.
- Click the
Classes tab.
- Create a new row.
- Enter 45 in the Technical Class field.
- Enter a description (such as Front Wheels) in the Description
field.
- Enter a longer description (such as Front Wheels including Tires) in the
Long Description field. Note that
this field is not mandatory.
- Save the new technical class.
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create a
characteristics template, which will be used for grouping all attributes that
should apply to the race car wheels.
Windows:
Technical Class Template

Technical Class Template window.
- Populate the window.
- In the Technical Class list, click 45 (Front Wheels).

Note: These three values are now the only valid values for this
attribute.
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to group some attributes
from the template/class into a group. This makes the
attributes easier to find, since they will be grouped together when they are
listed. The Class Groups are primarily used in IFS Plant Design.
Windows:
Technical Class Groups
- Open the
Technical Class Groups window.
- Populate the window.
- In the Technical Class list, select 45 (Front Wheels), which
you created in the earlier exercise.
- With your cursor in the Group Name field, click New (or F5) to create a new group.
- Enter the information shown in the following table about the new group.
