This course covers the functionality of IFS/Employee Development, showing you how to plan and prepare a counseling session; record the outcome of that session; and define career and succession plans. You will also learn where to find the web functionality within Employee Development.

The estimated time to complete the Intermediate course is 7,5 hours (this includes the Basic Data and Requirements (BDR) lesson).
This course is designed primarily for Supervisors, Recruitment Officers and Employees working in an HR department.
Career and Succession Planning
This chapter presents three lessons—one key lesson and two extended lessons. There is also a specific basic data and requirements lesson for Employee Development.
The key lesson, Performing Employee Development, guides you through the basic flow in planning counseling sessions, without any advanced functionality. You will learn how to:
- Prepare the session with an employee self-assessment and a competency gap analysis.
- Fill in the employee strategic files.
- Register an employee development program.
The second lesson, Running Matching, provides information on how to search for persons with certain profiles and competencies with either the Matching Engine, Matching Wizard, or the Competence Finder (web functionality).
The last lesson, Performing Aggregate Gap Analysis, describes how to:
- Perform an aggregate gap analysis to view a specific group's collective competency.
- Compare two or more employees using the Employees Competency Comparison window.
Before starting the lessons in this chapter, you should know how to navigate in IFS Applications.
