Setting Up Lot/Batch Handled Parts

This step is optional.

First the part has to be entered, follow the link to the activity diagram below.

Lot/Batch Tracking This field indicates whether lot/batch tracking is used. If Order Based is selected, the system automatically creates a lot/batch number based on the purchase or shop order number combined with the receipt number. Changes are only allowed under certain conditions. If Lot Tracked is selected, then a lot/batch number is needed, but it is either entered manually or generated with values that might not match the order number and receipt.

Lot Quantity Rule Identifies whether a single production order can produce only one lot (or batch) or multiple lots (or batches). The two possible values are: One Lot Per Production Order and Many Lots Per Production Order.

Sub-Lot Rule Identifies whether a single lot or batch can be divided into one or more sub-lots. The two possible values are: Sub-Lots Allowed and No Sub-Lots Allowed.

Note: If you are using a repetitive manufacturing flow, you should select Lot Tracking in the Lot/Batch Tracking field. This allows you to get production receipt by lot.
