If you are using any of the components in IFS/Vehicle Information Management the activities described here are required to be performed. Maintenance groups and operational parameters must be defined in order to set up interval based maintenance and perform operational loggings.
Maintenance Groups - Maintenance groups are used to differentiate the maintenance based on the operational conditions of the serial.
For example, the maintenance required for aircrafts flying long distance is different from the maintenance required for aircrafts flying short distance. Likewise, the maintenance required for vehicles operating in arctic climates is different from the maintenance requirement for vehicles operating in desert climates.
Each part number can be associated with an unlimited list of maintenance groups. A serial can belong to any of the maintenance groups defined for its part number. The maintenance groups are then used to set up different maintenance and maintenance intervals.
Operational Parameter - Operational parameters are used to measure the utilization of a serial. A formula for calculating an operational parameter can be indicated for each parameter. The definition of operational parameters is required when setting up maintenance plans and performing operational loggings.
Operational Parameter per Part - You need to define at least one operational parameter for each part number where serial utilization is to be measured. From the defined operational parameters, a primary operational parameter must be specified for each part.
Operational Parameter per Maintenance Group - It will be possible to define several operational parameters for a single maintenance group. When a new operational parameter is defined, this parameter will be assigned automatically to all the serials in the selected maintenance group. When a maintenance group is changed the operational parameters will be changed according to the new maintenance group.
The information entered in this step is used throughout IFS/Vehicle Information Management.
