Shop Order and DOP Header are allowed to be manually connected to an activity for your project.

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you the
required data that is used in the exercises below.
- Create a new shop order.

Main Exercise
Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to show you how to
connect a shop order to a project activity. This lesson will describe this functionality in general.

Connecting from the
Project
Info window.
- Open the
Project Navigator
window and query for the project you created or create a new one.
- In Connections tab, right click and then click
Connect/Disconnect
Object.
- In the window that appears click on the
Shop Order tab to
connect the shop order.
- Click Populate and
the existing unconnected shop orders will appear. Alternatively you can query for the required
shop order.
- Select the Connection field of the required shop order.
- Click OK.
- In the Project Navigator/Connections tab the shop order that you connected can be viewed.
Connecting from the
Shop Order window.
- Open the
Shop Order window and query for the
shop order that you created previously or create a new one.

Right click on the shop order header part and select the Project Connection/Connect
to Activity menu option.
- In the
Connect To Activity dialog box
that opens, enter the Program ID, Project ID, Sub Project ID and Activity ID
in the relevant fields or click the List button to select the details
related to the activity you want to connect the shop order to, from
the List of Values.
- Click OK.
- Click the
Shop Order/Tracking and History tab to view the
details of the connected activity.
- The shop order will get a project pre posting. If the
shop order has
its own pre posting, they will remain the same while the project and
activity sequence will also be added as postings.
- The shop order will have the value Project Inventory in the Demand
field on the
Details tab.
Note: In both of the above instances notice that the
System Connection field in the Project Navigator/Connections tab or
the Activity/Connections will not be selected indicating that
it is a manual connection. When connecting a shop order, the activity should be
in the released state.
Disconnecting from the
Project Navigator window.
- Open the
Project Navigator
window and query for the project you created and select the activity the
object is connected to, from the navigator.
- In Connections tab, right click and then click
Connect/Disconnect
Object.
- In the window that appears click on the
Shop Order tab and query for the shop order that you want to disconnect.
- Clear the Connection field of the required
shop order.
- Click OK.
- In the Project Navigator/Connections tab the shop order that you disconnected will no longer be there.
Disconnecting from the
Shop Order window.
- Open the
Shop Order window and query for the
shop order that you want to disconnect from the activity.

Right click and select the Project Connection/Disconnect
from Activity menu option.
- The project connection information in the
Shop Order/Tracking
and History tab will be removed when the
shop order is disconnected.
- The project pre postings that were entered when the connection to the activity was done will be removed.
- The shop order will have the value Inventory Order in the Demand
field on the
Details tab.
- When you've connected a shop order manually to a project activity,
observe if any Planned costs have been retrieved back to the activity.
- Release the shop order.
- Observe what happens to the committed
costs back in the project activity.
- Reserve and then issue the material to the shop order.
- Observe what happens to the used
costs back in the project activity.
- Report operations on the shop order.
- Observe the progress in the project activity. Since this is the only
shop order connected to this activity, the progress will be 100%, if the chosen
Progress Method is Shop Order.
- Receive the shop order.
