Basic Data Setup
Company
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how
to set up a company.
Windows:
Create Company Assistant
- Create the company that should be associated with your resource group, if
it has not already been created.
- Alternatively to step 1, you can use Company 10.

Company Employees
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how
to set up employees.
Windows:
Company/Employees
- Query for your desired company. This should be the company that you will
connect to your project reporting resource group in the following exercise.
- To add an employee, enter an employee number. Then enter the desired person
ID, or select it from the List of Values. For example, you might add the person
ID connected to your user as an employee of Company 10.
- Save your changes.

Main Exercise
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how
to register resource groups.

Resource Group/Employee
- Open the Resource Group
window.
- Create a new record. Enter a resource ID starting with XX, substituting
XX with your initials.
- Enter a resource description.
- Optionally, enter a resource category or select it from the List of Values.
- Enter a calendar ID or select one from the List of Values. This should be
the calendar ID for your resource group.
- Enter the company ID to which your resource should belong, or select it
from the List of Values. The default company for your user is suggested. The
resource company must be the same as the project company, e.g. Company 10.
- Enter a project cost element or select one from the List of Values.
- Save your changes.
- Click the Cost
tab.
- Create a new record.
- Enter a date, such as today's date, in the Effective From field.
- Enter a later date in the Effective To field.
- Enter the desired cost per hour for this resource, where the cost is in
the company's accounting currency.
- Repeat steps 912 to specify different costs for additional time periods.
Note that your periods cannot overlap in time.
- Save your changes.
- Click the Capacity tab.
- Create a new record.
- Enter a date, such as today's date, in the Effective From field.
- Enter a later date in the Effective To field.
- Enter the normal number of hours per day that your resource is available
in the Normal Capacity field, and the maximum number of hours per day
in the Max Capacity field.
- Repeat steps 1619 to specify different normal and max capacity values for
additional time periods. Note that your periods cannot overlap in time.
- Save your changes.
Note: For an example of a resource group, you can refer to
the resource group E10.

Note: To be able to do this exercise, you must use an executable
containing both IFS/Project Reporting and IFS/Project.
- Repeat steps 16 in the above Registering a Resource Group exercise.
- Select the Project Reporting Resource check box.
- Save your changes.
Note: Once you select the Project Reporting Resource check box,
the planned cost for this resource will be based on the standard price list from
IFS/Project Reporting instead of the costs specified on the
Cost tab. The
Cost tab is unavailable
and two additional tabs, the Standard Price
and Employee tabs,
are made available. Even when you run an executable without the IFS/Project Reporting
component, the Cost
tab will be unavailable.
- Click the Standard Price tab.
- Create a new record. The report code is automatically set to %. It must
have this value to be able to report planned cost to the activity.
- Enter the desired price per hour in the Internal Price field.
- Enter a date, such as today's date, in the Valid From field.
- Enter a later date in the Valid To field.
- Repeat steps 58 to specify different prices for additional time periods.
Note that your periods cannot overlap in time.
- Save your changes.
Note: The internal prices that you have entered will now
appear as rows on the Internal Price/Standard Price
tab.
- Repeat steps 1521 in the Registering a Resource Group exercise above to
specify the capacity for the resource.
- Click the Employee
tab.
- Specify the employees who should belong to this resource group. For each
employee you want to add, create a new record and enter the employee number,
or select it from the List of Values.
- Save your changes.
Note: For an example of a project reporting resource group,
you can refer to Resource Group E20.
