- Registering resource groups defines which resources are available to be
allocated to activities.

- To register a resource group, you will need to set up the following
data:
- Company
- Calendar
- Project Cost Element
- Resource Category (optional)
- To register a project reporting resource group, you will also need to
set up the following data:

- A resource group is generally defined at a high level, e.g., electrical
engineers, carpenters, or cranes.
- A resource group can also be a specific person or machine.
- Each defined resource group is available to all projects within the
resource company.

- When you register resource groups, you must:
- Define a resource group ID and description.
- Choose the resource company, i.e., the company to which the resource
belongs.
- Choose the resource calendar ID, which indicates when the resource can
work.
- When performing a resource calculation, work will be scheduled for the
days that are working days in both the activity calendar and the
resource calendar.
- Choose the project cost element for this resource group.
- The planned costs when allocating this resource will update the
selected cost element.
- You can also specify a resource category ID.

- To include the resource group’s costs and usage in the project’s
roll-ups and calculations, enter:
- The cost for a given period (cost per hour).
- The normal and maximum capacity for a given period (hours per day).
- Define different cost/capacity for any number of given periods.

- If IFS/Project Reporting is installed, the resource group can be defined
as a project reporting resource.
- If the resource group is a project reporting resource:
- The resource group’s planned cost is based on the standard price list
in project reporting instead of the cost tab.
- You must use the report code %.
- Define which employees belong to the resource group.
- This is used for retrieving actual hours per resource group as reported
by employees through project reporting.
