Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to make another
Landing Gear serial structure. This lesson introduces you to an alternative way
of generating serials by copying an existing serial structure. This will include
additional information about Alternates etc. In this exercises you will
also apply automatic serial number generation (temporary S/N) before entering
the actual serial numbers.

- You are now ready to copy the structure. Right-click and click Copy Serial Structure.
- In the wizard, specify Part Number nX32NLG7001 and Serial Number nX31000
(created in previous exercise). Make sure to select the Generate Serial
Numbers check box.
- You get a message when parts are copied.
- In the
Serial Structure Information window click the
Consists Of
tab and verify that
(temporary) serial numbers with a format of NO-9999 have been generated.
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to
modify serial numbers in a newly copied structure for the nX32000 Nose
Landing gear, you will enter serial number on sub-structure parts to be in the
nX32999 series.
Prerequisite: The previous lessons must
be completed.
Windows:
Serial Structure Information
Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the
following steps.
- Open the
Serial Structure Information window.
- Query (F3) for your parts of interest: Part Number nX32% and Serial
Number NO%. Important: Verify that you have the correct serial
records.
- Select one of your serial records.
- Right-click on the lower section of the General tab, and then click Rename Serial.
- Use the Rename Serial wizard to modify the serial number of
the Nose Landing Gear to be in the nX32999 series ("9" means
any digit).
- Reset the operational status to be In Operation. (You may have to change
the operational condition to Non Operational first, and then change the
operational condition to Operational again so you can select the Set
serial to be In Operation status check box within the
Set Serial
to be Operational dialog box.)
- Repeat steps 3 through 7 for each serial number.
- When finished, select the Nose Landing Gear (nX32000), go to
Serial Structure Information
and examine the serial numbers in the
Multilevel

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to make a serial
structure of your aircraft (vehicle level). You will do
everything in the
Serial Structure Information window.

- Specify Serial Number nX30000 and Vehicle ID nN.
- The Template Part No
and Structure Position fields are automatically populated with the
template part number, revision and structure position of the serial.
- Specify Owner Org HQn (create it if

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set
the serial structure in operation. The In Operation status is not necessary to
do maintenance planning, but it is necessary to register operational
values on the serial.
Prerequisite: The previous lessons must
be completed.
Windows:

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to
learn how to grant and revoke an access group on a selected top serial, and to extend
(spread) the selected access group to all serials at all levels. In this lesson
we will grant the access group SYSOWN for your part number nX32NLG7001, revision
* and serial number nX31000. For the purpose of revoking access we will use the
access group you have created as basic data on the same part, revision and serial number.
Prerequisites: The serial(s) for
which you want to grant or revoke access must have received access groups from
the template level.
