Use this tab to define or maintain alternates for the selected template structure. The table below shows the interchangeability rules that apply when selecting an interchangeability code for a template or position alternate.
Note: Interchangeability codes are pre-defined in VIM basic data. For more information, refer to the activity Define Interchangeability Code.
One Way Interchangeable | A non-mutual alternate is created in the
Part/Alternate Parts tab. A one-way alternate is created in the Engineering Part Revision/Alternate Part Revisions tab. |
Two Way Interchangeable | A mutual alternate is created in the
Part/Alternate Parts tab. A two-way alternate is created in the Engineering Part Revision/Alternate Part Revisions tab. |
Not Interchangeable | This rule is for information purposes only and affects nothing else in the system. |
Interchangeable as a Set | A non-mutual alternate is created in the
Part/Alternate Parts tab. A one-way alternate is created in the Engineering Part Revision/Alternate Part Revisions tab. |
Qualified Interchangeable | A mutual alternate is created in the
Part/Alternate Parts tab A two-way alternate is created in the Engineering Part Revision/Alternate Part Revisions tab. |
