Define Resource Type

Explanation

This activity is used to define the resource types that are valid for your company. Each resource type can be set up with information on the start and end locations for a work shift, maximum travel hours and costs such as scheduling cost per hour and scheduling cost per overtime hour and whether the lunches for the resource type should be transferred as flexible. The start and end locations are defined by using valid address IDs of the company.

Resource types are connected to the resources and provide the resource with default scheduling information. That is, if no resource specific data has been entered for a resource, the resource will inherit the scheduling data, i.e., scheduling cost, travel information and start and end locations, from the resource type. For more information refer to the activity Define Scheduling Resource.

Prerequisites

To perform this activity, valid addresses with associated map positions must exist for the selected company.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the resource types for a company are defined. These resource types are connected to the resources that will be used by the Scheduling Engine.

  10. In the Scheduling Cost per Km field, enter the cost per kilometer for the resource type.

In the Out of Region Multiplier field, enter the multiplier that is to be applied to the value of an activity, for instance a work order, which is to be done by a resource outside his or her region. A value of 0 means that activities cannot be done outside the region. A value of 1 means that activities can freely be done outside the region and are as likely to be chosen as those activities within the region. For activities of type work orders the region is the maintenance organization.
  15. In the Utilization (%) field, enter in percentage how much work the resource type is allowed to be scheduled during a shift.
  16. In the Speed Factor field, enter the proportion of calculated travel time is to be used by the Scheduling Engine. If a value of 0.5 is entered, the Scheduling Engine will assume that half its estimated travel time is the actual travel time. If a value of 2 is entered, the Scheduling Engine will assume twice its estimated travel time is the actual travel time.
  17. If resources with this resource type should be automatically logged on and logged off the Scheduling Engine the Auto Logon check box should be selected. Automatic log on and log off will be done based on the start and end times of a shift.

  19. Save the information (F12).
