Resource Allocation

[About Resources] [To Project Management]

Usage

Use this window to look at how much one single activity's consumption of a resource  compares to the total consumption (by other activities) for the activity period.

The information displayed is the resource usage of all activities spread across all the work days available according to the calendar for the resource group. The graph displays 30 days at a time, starting with the work day closest to the connected activity's early start date. You can use the buttons marked '<<' and '>>' to scroll through the entire activity period and watch as the resource allocation changes. This is useful to identify over-allocated resources as you add resource connections to your project.

The bar shown for each day is the total usage allocated for the work day on the X-axis, assuming an even spread in usage across the activity periods. The dark blue portion of the bar is the usage based on the selected activity's resource connection, and the light blue portion is all the other activities' usage.

The normal capacity limit defined for each day for the resource group is displayed as a cyan overlay graph. This shows you how your planned resource usage relates to available resources.

The entire window is read only.
