Replace Serial
Explanation
Use this function to replace one serial part with another in the project delivery
structure.
Prerequisites
The serial to be replaced has to be a part of the
structure when you run the Gross Requirement Calculation (GRC) in order to calculate
the required quantity for it. You must issue both the old an new serial from
Inventory, either manually or via the shop order created for its parent part.
Note that if you have AfterDeliverySerialTracking and not
InventorySerialTracking for the part you can only set the serial number after it
has been issued. The new item (with the relevant serial number) will have to be
disconnected from the structure after running the GRC. Once disconnected, you
are ready to replace the old serial number with the new serial number.
- The wanted replacement part must be a serial.
- The new serial part must exist.
- The new serial part must have a valid replacement part.
- The new serial part cannot be used in another structure.
- The status for the new serial part must be the same as that of the replaced part.
- Old serial part must have been issued
- New serial part must have been issued
System Effects
- The following fields are copied from the replaced serial to
the new serial: Parent Seq No, Pos, Sorting Code, MPL Part, Location, Customer Part No,
Customer Part Desc, Tag No, Activity Seq.
- The Location, Tag Number and Activity Sequence fields are
set to null for the replaced serial.
