Indicate Parameters for Manufacturing Structures

Explanation

Use this activity to define parameters for structures and routings. Typically a system administrator or equivalent person performs this optional task.

The Structure Update column defines for product structures, recipe structures, or configuration structures in Buildable status which attributes can be changed. You can change the structure update default at any time. Possible values are:

Value	Description
Restricted	Only the attributes Operation No, Leadtime Offset, Promise Planned, Issue From Location, Drawing Position, Note Text, and Print Unit can be changed. Changes to document texts, component work guidelines and configuration rules on the structure alternate, structure components, and structure component work guidelines are also allowed. This is the default value.
Enhanced	In addition to the attributes that can be changed when the structure update control is Restricted, the attributes Qty Per Assembly, Component Scrap, Scrap Factor, Consumption Item, Phantom Consumed, and Charged Item can also be changed.
Simplified	In addition to the attributes that can be changed when the structure update control is Enhanced, structure lines can be added or deleted.

The value of the structure update control also determines which attributes can be changed for a routing in Buildable state. The possible values are:

Value	Description
Restricted	Only the attributes Operation Desc, Machine Number, Alternate Work Center, Note Text, Operation Work Guideline, Document Text, Routing Operation Rules, and Alternate Description can be changed. Changes to configuration rules on the routing alternate, routing operation, routing operation work guidelines, and routing operation tools are also allowed.
Enhanced	In addition to the attributes that can be changed when the structure update control is Restricted, all editable attributes can be changed.
Simplified	In addition to the attributes that can be changed when the structure update control is Enhanced, operations can be added or deleted.

The Structure Status Default column specifies the default status the manufacturing structure alternate should receive when you use the Create or Replace Component process. This field works in conjunction with the Structure Update column. You can change the structure status default at any time. However, this will only impact the default status of new structure alternates created after the changes have been made. Possible values are:

Value	Description
Tentative	Default. This value is allowed for all Structure Update values.
Plannable	This value is allowed for all Structure Update values.
Buildable	This value is allowed only if the Structure Update attribute is Simplified.

Prerequisites

This activity has the following prerequisites:

The site must be created.
The calendars you want to use for IFS Distribution and IFS Manufacturing must be entered and generated in the Calendar window.

System Effects

As a result of this activity:

Manufacturing structure and routing parameters are defined.
Manufacturing structures can be changed based on the settings defined in this activity.

Procedure

Open the Site window.
Query for the site whose product structure and routing settings you wish to define.
On the Extended Site Info/Manufacturing tab, in the Structure Update list, click the value for product structures in Buildable status.
In the Structure Status Default list, click the initial status for product structure alternates created when you create or replace a component.
Save the changes.
