This activity is used to assign a position to an employee. You can link an employee to several positions but only one can be primary. It is necessary for the employee to be linked to a position in order to be active in the system. In addition, the link can be time-controlled, so that the information is valid during a particular period or until further notice. If there is a connection to a position, there is information about the employees place in the position structure, who is the supervisor and which employees are subordinated.
Note: An employee becomes a subordinate based on
one's primary position assignment. That is, supervisors can only access
subordinate employees if access is granted to the primary position of the
subordinate. However, an employee can become a supervisor based on the primary
or
secondary position assignment. Position access between supervisors and
subordinates is defined in the
Position Access window.
Also, if an employee has more than one position,
the system uses the primary position to find the information that is currently
valid. E.g. the organization code linked to the employee's time and expense
transactions.
The position structure should have been defined.
