Create Work Center
Explanation
Use this activity to create and revise a work center. The information you enter is used
when you work with operations, shop orders, master scheduling, MRP, and cost estimates.
Note: When a site is defined for finite planning, you cannot define
external work centers as infinite. If you have infinite capacity at external work centers,
you must define the capacity as more or less unlimited, i.e., so high that no limitations
are reached.
Once you have created a work center, you can use the
Setup Matrix
tab to create a setup matrix. See Activity description for Create
a Setup Matrix.
For outside work centers, a supplier should be entered. The outside operation backflush option is set as a default for outside
operations using the outside work center. Updating the values on an outside work
center will not change setting on previously created operations using the same
work center.
If a supplier is selected for an outside work center,
then this supplier will be used when creating Purchase Requisitions or Purchase
Orders for outside work centers.
Prerequisites
This activity has the following prerequisites:
- You must have created a site to which you can connect the work center.
- If you want to use a calendar for the work center other than the site
calendar, this calendar must be defined before you create the work center.
- If you want to connect the work center to a production line or
department, this information must be registered before you create the work
center.
System Effects
As a result of this activity:
- The system creates a new work center.
- When you enter an inside work center, cost sets 1, 2, 3, and 4 are
automatically created for it.
- The work center can be linked to a production line.
