Plan Shop Order

Explanation

Use this activity to plan a shop order, i.e., change the status of an order in Released or Parked status to Planned. A planned shop order is a low-status order. You cannot reserve material or schedule operations for low-status orders, such as for a part you plan to manufacture but have not yet planned when to begin manufacturing. You can only plan an order with Released or Parked status. When changing the status to Planned, you can perform an availability check on that order. Shop orders in Planned status may be pegged manually.

Prerequisites

The shop order must have Released or Parked status. To perform an availability check, the system parameter Auto avail check of shop order must be set to Yes or Allowed in the Parameters for Distribution and Manufacturing window and Availability Check must be selected in the Control Values check box in Inventory Part/Misc Part Info. An estimated lead time must also be defined for the part in Inventory Part/Acquisition.

System Effects

As a result of this activity the system changes the status of the shop order to Planned.
