Initial Exercises—Manage Line Maintenance
Initial Exercises
Purpose: The purpose of these initial exercises is to show
the attendees how to do line maintenance according to a few commonly used
principles.

If you
are a student, it is extremely important that you set up and work
with your own assigned student number to maintain your data integrity. |
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show attendees
how to handle maintenance tasks being generated from operational loggings. In
this exercise we will use the Simplified Work Order distribution type.
Windows:
Task Distribution
Maintenance Order
Serial Order History
Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following
steps.
- From the
Pending Tasks window in the previous exercise,
select the A-check task for serial X10000, right-click, and then click Task Distribution to open the
Task Distribution
window.
- Click the
Pending Tasks tab and verify that you
have the same task as seen in Pending Tasks
window.
- Select Simplified Work Order as the distribution type and LAX-C as the
workshop
code.
- Select the Include Task? check box and save (F12). The task disappears from this
tab.
- Click the
Planned and Running Tasks tab.
- Select the task, right-click, and then click
Maint Order Info
to open the Maintenance Order
window.
- Click the
Maint. Order Str. tab and select your task from
the graphical object structure. The relevant task details will be displayed
in the Task Details tab.
Right-click on this
tab, and then click Release.
Enter the task start date in the
Start Date dialog box and
click OK.

Select the task once more, right-click, and then click Finish.
- In the
Finish Task - Enter General Info wizard step, enter
2 as the man-hours used and XMECH as the competence. Enter a short
description of the work.
- Click Finish.
- Open the
Serial Order History
window.
- Query for the serial number X10000 and verify that the actual task has been filed in the history log.
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show attendees

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following
steps.
- Repeat the
Operational Logging exercise
(described in the initial exercises for the Operate Asset course) to get
a new task generated.

From the Pending Tasks
window,
select the A-check task for serial X10000, right-click and then click Task Distribution to open the
Task Distribution
window.
- Click the
Pending Tasks tab and verify that you
have the same task as seen in Pending Tasks
window.
- Select Work Order as the distribution type and LAX-C as the workshop
code.
- Select the Include Task? check box and save (F12). The task disappears from this
tab.
- Click the
Planned and Running Tasks
tab.
- Select the task, right-click and then click Report
In Work Order
to open the Report In Work Order
window.
- Right-click, point to Work Order Status, and then click Released
to change the status for the work order.

Click
the Time Report tab.

Create a new record (F5)
and select Plan Line No 32110 (use the List of Values) and enter 2 as the
man-hours used.

Save the record (F5).

Click the
Materials
tab and issue the planned material by
selecting the line, right-clicking, and then clicking Issue.

To finish the work order you need to enter the Actual
Start and Actual Completion dates in the Report In
tab.

Save the record (F12).

Right-click, point to Work Order Status, and
then click Finished.

If you need
to authorize the postings before finishing the work order you should do this
in the Postings tab by selecting
the lines, right-clicking, and then clicking Authorize All Non-Authorized.

Open the
Serial Order History
window.
- Query for the serial number X10000 and verify that the actual task has been filed in the history log.
