Initial Exercises
Purpose: The purpose of these initial exercises is to show
the attendees how to do fleet management according to a few commonly used
principles.

If you
are a student, it is extremely important that you set up and work
with your own assigned student number to maintain your data integrity. |
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create an
operational plan for a test flight. This test flight should start and end up in
LAX (Los Angeles). An aircraft model X747-900 is needed.

/Operational Event
- Open the Operational Planning window and create a new record.
Enter TX111 as the Plan Number and select 4 as the Description Number.

Specify a Start Date and End Date time interval.

Select HQ as the Owner Organization.

Use location value LAX for both the
Departure Loc and Arrival Loc
fields.

Enter a value for the Distance in miles and the
Note field.

Save (F12).

Click the
Define Vehicle Models tab and create a new record.

Enter an Item Number like e.g. 10.

The values in the Planned Date From and
Planned Date To
fields are intended to indicate the vehicle engagement
time and should reflect the period you specified earlier.

Enter Planned Value = 4.

Set the Number Of Serials
field to 1.

Select 7X7as the Product Number and X747-900 as the Model Number.

Save (F12).

Click the
General tab.

Select the Plan Complete check box and save.

Click the
Assign Vehicles and Crew tab.

Enter Part Number X747-900 and Serial
Number X10000.
-
Save (F12).
-
Open the
Serial Operational Information window and query for your
serial
number X10000.

Click the
Operational Event tab and identify your
operational assignment.
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show attendees
how
to log operational values according to actual use of the vehicle or serial. In this
example we will register flying hours on the A/C (X10000). As we will see,
we have to report twice before a maintenance due is reached.

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following
steps.
- Open the
Serial Operational Information window and then click the
Operational
Log tab.
- Query for the serial number X10000.
- In the lower part of the window you see the operational parameters and
their current values (initialized to zero).
- Enter new operational values by adding 60 FHR and 20 FCYC in the
Add
On Value field.
- Save the information (F12).
- Right-click on the window header and click
Serial Maintenance
to open the Serial Maintenance window.
- Right-click on the window header and click
Task Calculate.
- Select the appropriate check boxes in the
Task Calculate
dialog box and click OK.
- Open the
Pending Tasks window and query for the
serial
number X10000.
- Are there any pending tasks due? (There should not be any.)
- Return to the
Serial Operational Information/Operational Log
tab and add 40 FHR and 18 FCYC in the Add On Value field.
- Save the information (F12).
- Right-click on the window header and click
Serial Maintenance
to open the Serial Maintenance window again.
- Right-click on the window header and click
Task Calculate.
- Select the appropriate check boxes in the
Task Calculate
dialog box and click OK.
- Open
Pending Tasks window and refresh (Shift + F5).
- An A-check task should have been generated for your serial X10000.
