Scheduled Compensation for Job and Wage Hours—Exercises

Basic Data Setup

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the basic data required for running this functionality. To enter this data, follow the instructions in the Administering Wage Codes for Job and Wage Hours, Administering Day Schedules for Job and Wage Hours and Administering Work Hours Rules for Job and Wage Hours exercises. If you have completed those exercises, the data you need should already be in the database, and you can proceed directly to the main exercises.

Main Exercises

Creating Increment Schedules

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to define an increment schedule for different types of increments during uncomfortable working hours, such as early mornings, late evenings or nights, for job hour based reporting.

Windows:
Increment Types
Increment Schedules
Sub Increment Schedules
Wage Codes

Note: For the purpose of this exercise, it is assumed that employees in your company are covered by a union agreement whereby additional compensation (increments) is provided for all employees. The increment is a fixed amount of 2 hours that is issued with normal working hours. The increment is not given with overtime.

  1. Open the Increment Types window, create a new record, and give it a name and description.

Note: Using start and end time for increments together with job hour based reporting is not necessary. It is possible to set up increments based on time periods, but the increments will be calculated according to the day type and not to the actual time intervals between which the employee has been working, since that information does not exist in the system.

  1. Enter a wage code for the increment, either manually or using the List of Values. If necessary, create a wage code in the Wage Codes window of Wage Type Time Increment.
  2. In the Calculation Rule field, select Result based
  3. Choose when the increment is to become effective.

Normal hours: Gives the increment in connection with normal time and for Absence Wage Codes with Increment Handling set to Increments for presence.

Presence: Gives the increment for all attendance time and for Absence Wage Codes with Increment Handling set to Increments for presence.

Overtime: Gives the increments only in connection with overtime.

Absence: Gives the increments for Absence Wage Codes with Increment Handling set to Increments for absence.

Appearance: Compensation in the event of detached overtime.

Note: You can only select either Normal hours or Presence for job hour based reporting.

  1. Define a value type in the Value Type field.

Fixed: Means that compensation is given at the value specified in the Value field.

Minimum: Means that the compensation is given at a minimum of the value specified in the Value field.

Maximum: Means that compensation is given at a maximum of the value specified in the Value field.

Calculated: Means that compensation is based on total time for the wage types covered by the validity in question.

  1. Define values for the increment type period in the Value field.
  1. Define the increment schedule. Open the Increment Schedules window.

Assigning Increment Schedules

Purpose: Assign your increment schedule to the employees in your organizational unit.
