Resolve Resource Constraints and Reschedule Work
Order
Explanation
This activity is used to resolve the resource constraints and to reschedule
the work order. The work order may be standalone work
order or can be connected to a work order structure, a project or both. Scheduling a single work order is useful when you are adding work to
already ongoing work order structures or projects.
The work order will not be rescheduled
immediately since there are frequent multiple updates done to
a work order (WO), WO structure or project and
these updates need to be completed before the reschedule can take place.
Prerequisites
- A work order with unresolved resource constraints.
- A work order in status Prepared,
Released or Started.
- The site to which the work order belongs must be a
CBS enabled site. A site is CBS enabled in IFS Applications/Constraint Based
Scheduling/Basic Data for Constraint Based Scheduling/Basic Data for
Scheduling.
System Effects
- The work order will be
rescheduled and the value in the Scheduling Constraints field will be set
to Resolved.
- The buffer index is calculated for the top work
order in the structure. The buffer index is used to monitor the relation
between the progress of a work order structure and the consumption of the
project buffer.

Procedure
- Open the
Prepare Work Order window and
query for the unresolved work orders. This activity can be performed from
the Work Order Execution Logic window as well.
- Click the Operations tab, locate the
operation that is not scheduled and resolve the issue. Use the information
in the Scheduling Info field to identify the issue.
-
Take the necessary measures to resolve any other
constraints, for instance add more people that have a particular craft to
resolve the constraint related to that craft.
- Right-click on the header of the window or the
General tab, and then click Reschedule Work Order or
Reschedule Work Order Structure/Project (if you are working in the
Work Order Execution Logic window).
- If the work order is a standalone work order, the
Reschedule Standalone Work Order dialog box opens. If the work
order is connected to a work order structure or project, the
Reschedule Work Order Structure/Project dialog box opens.
- Select the appropriate check boxes in the dialog box
that appears and click OK. This method is also applicable for work
order structures and those that have a connection to a project. Note: The work order will be rescheduled
automatically if the values in the Requested Finish or Priority
fields change during this time.
