Use this tab window to calculate characteristics for the selected project item. Calculations can only be performed on numeric values, using the values registered in characteristics for the part in Part/Characteristics. You can insert any attribute available and execute a calculation even if the attribute itself does not exist in any of the items in the structure. The calculation process starts with bottom items and works up toward the item selected for calculation. If there is a manually-entered value in the characteristics on one of the items in the structure, the process ignores all items below that item and uses the manually-entered value instead. The value is always multiplied by the quantity. Read more about the characteristics calculation in the About document.
