Perform Due Calculation for LLP and Interval Maintenance Tasks

Explanation

This activity is used to perform the due calculation for the interval maintenance of a given serial. The calculation will be done for the serial, based on the registered average operational value per month and the defined maintenance plan. In addition, the due calculation will create a maintenance task, and calculate the remaining life and drop-dead date, for the given serial provided the serial part number is defined as a life limited part and it has reached the days of the forewarning period. The due calculation for a serial will only be done for a maintenance plan connected to an active maintenance program. Therefore, a maintenance program that has an Active status must be connected to the serial before the task calculation can take place. For a calendar based maintenance plan, where no average operational values exist for the primary operational based parameter, there will under certain circumstances only be calculated one record for recurring items. 

Apart from manually performing the due calculation for a serial (as described in this activity), scheduled tasks exist to automatically calculate due dates for all interval based maintenance. The Maintenance Task Calculation scheduled task will be used to calculate the due date for maintenance tasks while the Life Limited Part Calculation scheduled task will be used to calculate the life limit of all serials defined as life limited parts. Prerequisites

• An active maintenance program with a defined maintenance plan must exist.
• An average operational value (per month) for the serial must exist.
• For life limited parts to be calculated, life limited information must be defined for the serial.
• The serial available for due calculation, cannot have an operational status of Planned for Operation and cannot be a locked serial. 
• The LLP or interval maintenance tasks that are in a planning state (i.e., in the Planned in Scope, Incomplete or Under Preparation status) must be connected to a maintenance order that is not yet released.

System Effects

• Interval maintenance due dates are calculated for the serial.
• If the calculated due date is within the defined number of days forewarning in the maintenance plan, a pending task is created.
• If the serial part number is defined as a life limited part (LLP) and the due date calculated is within the defined number of days forewarning, the calculation creates a maintenance task for the serial.
• The due calculation for LLP and interval maintenance tasks will handle tasks that are included on maintenance orders not yet released.

Procedure

Use the following procedure to run the due calculation for the interval maintenance of a serial.

1. Open the Serial Maintenance window or the Component Life window.
2. Query (F3) for the serial for which you will run the task calculation.
3. Right-click anywhere in the header of the window and then click Task Calculate to open the Task Calculation dialog box.
4. If you want to perform task calculation for all serials in the serial structure, select the Calculate Entire Structure check box.
5. To perform the task calculation as a background job, select the Run in Background check box.
6. Click OK.

• When the task calculation is finished, you can view the calculated interval maintenance due dates in the Interval Maint. tab of the Serial Maintenance window.
• If the serial's part number is defined as a life limited part, you can view the calculated drop dead date for the serial in the Life Limited Serials tab of the Serial Maintenance window.
• You can view the information on the maintenance program for the calculated interval maintenance in the Next Intervalmaint. in Structure tab of the Serial Maintenance window.

If IFS/Complex MRO is used, the following procedure can be used to calculate due dates for all the tasks (i.e., LLP and Modification tasks) which are to be performed during a shop visit:

1. Open the Task Summary window or the Change Work Scope Tasks window and query (F3) for the overhaul object and/or the MRO work order number you want.
2. Right-click anywhere in the header, and then click Calculate All Tasks.
3. The calculated interval maintenance due dates can be viewed in the LLPs and/or Modification tabs found in the Task Summary window and the Change Work Scope Tasks window.
