Setting Up Basic Data for Serials

In order to create serials, workshops and location codes need to be defined. The definition of vehicle conditions and equipment codes, that are used for vehicles, is optional. The definition of template routes is optional.

Note: Before you define a workshop, you need to make sure that a site has been established and that your user has access to this site. The definition of workshops is required.

Workshop - When creating a serial, you need to assign a workshop to the serial. This will be the workshop that will be used as the default workshop when a pending maintenance task is generated. You need to register the hours during which the workshop is open as well as to connect the workshop to a valid site.

Note: Before you define equipment codes, you must make sure that the product and model for which it will be used is defined in IFS/PDM-Configuration. For more information, refer to the process model Describe Product Functions.

Equipment Code - Equipment codes are used to describe the additional equipment that is available for vehicles, without it been recorded in the serial structure. The definition of equipment codes is optional.

Vehicle Condition - The vehicle's condition code is used for historical and statistical purposes. The definition of vehicle conditions is optional.

Note: If vehicle-functionality is to be used, you must define vehicle conditions for the two auto settings Set when first task is started and Set when last task is finished before you can create a vehicle serial.

Note: The object property UPD_VEH_COND_CODE indicates if the vehicle condition should be set automatically or not. For more information, refer to the setup guide Setting Up Application Parameters.

Location Code - Location codes are used to indicate the geographical/physical location of a serial when it is not installed in a structure. The definition of location codes is required.

Note: The location code that is to be set as the default location is controlled by the object property DEFAULT_LOCATION. For more information, refer to the setup guide Setting Up Application Parameters.

Template Route - The definition of template routes is optional. You can define standard transport routes that are to be used when transporting a component to a workshop for maintenance purposes. The location of the serial will be updated automatically, according to the locations entered on the transport route, when you select the Complete check box for the latest completed leg of the transport route.

Note: Operational parameter basics are described in the setup guide Setting Up Maintenance Groups and Operational Parameters per Part.
